ATLANTA — With Thanksgiving weeks away, there are many people planning on gathering with family and friends to celebrate the holiday together.
While many plan to cook and prepare Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends, the Atlanta Community Food Bank estimates one in eight Georgians are food insecure, including one in five children.
Here are several organizations and businesses collecting and distributing food to those in need in the metro Atlanta area for the holiday.
Thanksgiving Giveaway at Free Chapel
WHAT: Officials will give away free cases of fresh chicken and other items for families in need.

Hosea Helps Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Event:
WHAT: Hosea Helps will provide families in need with turkeys and other food for Thanksgiving.

The Law Office of Malcolm P. Conner Presents: Thanksgiving Community Harvest
WHAT: The Law Office of Malcolm P. Conner will host a distribution event with Thanksgiving meals to feed over 300 families in need. There will also be a distribution of MPC bags filled with essential items, water bottles, t-shirts, toiletries and more.

City of South Fulton Annual Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway
WHAT: Officials will provide those in need with family meal bag giveaways.

WHEN: Nov. 22 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Annual Thanksgiving Mobile Food Pantry:
WHAT: The annual Choices for Kids Thanksgiving mobile food pantry will provide families experiencing food insecurity with healthy foods to eat during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Feed The Homeless With Us in Atlanta - Friendsgiving 2024
WHAT: Glorious Helping Hands are holding a giveback event for volunteers to help feed the homeless in Atlanta.
WHERE: Volunteers will pick up items and deliver to Hurt Park located at 25 Courtland St. off Edgewood Avenue.
WHEN: Nov. 23 from Noon - 3 p.m.
Thanksgiving Community Luncheon
WHAT: Southlake Church of Christ is set to host a Thanksgiving meal at their community luncheon. Attendees can unite to enjoy great food and great company with the community.

“Carving Memories” Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway
WHAT: The first-annual Thanksgiving Giveaway drive-thru event sponsored by Councilwoman Keosha B. Bell will feature food giveaways, music, and more for families to enjoy. Families can grab a turkey, fresh produce and holiday dinner essentials while supplies last, officials said. The event is exclusively for South Fulton residents.

29th Annual Men of Hope Thanksgiving Dinner By Covenant Community, Inc
WHAT: Covenant Community, Inc. is set to host the 29th Annual Men of Hope Thanksgiving dinner. Officials will serve 400 meals to Atlanta’s homeless population. In addition to a community resource fair, officials say they will connect attendees with healthcare services, housing resources, addiction recovery support, and employment opportunities.
