HALL COUNTY, Ga. — An investigation is underway after a shooting in Hall County left a man dead and a woman injured early Monday morning, according to police.

According to Hall County police, the shooting happened near the corner of Athens Street and West Ridge Road. When officers arrived, they found a man and woman with gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was rushed to the hospital. The current extent of her injuries is unknown.

According to WSBTV, officials encourage motorists to seek an alternate route as Athens Street at West Ridge Road remains closed.

The identities of the victims have not been released by police. It is unclear when the road will reopen.
