CLAYTON COUNTY, GA — Clayton County investigators confirm they’ve recovered the body of the 6-month-old baby Nnakai Pratt in the same area where police had been searching for him. Officers sealed off parts of a Riverdale apartment complex on Valley Hill Road, setting up crime scene tape and privacy screens near a dumpster and a wooded area.
It is the location of where the baby’s father, 38-year-old Antonio Pearce, claimed his son was taken at gunpoint on Sunday. Police say Pearce’s account contained inconsistencies and did not match physical evidence at the scene.
Pearce appeared in court Wednesday for an unrelated charge, but has since received additional charges of malice murder, cruelty to children, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, concealing a death, tampering with evidence and more, according to court records.
He has a prior criminal history due to a child cruelty case and court records of family violence.
He is being held without bond.
Pearce was originally booked for charges on false statements, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and child restraint violation.
Detectives first announced Tuesday that the search for the child had taken a “desperate turn,” citing physical evidence that pointed to foul play.
