PAULDING COUNTY, GA — Fire investigators are working to determine what caused a deadly house fire Tuesday night in Paulding County.
Crews were called to a home on Flagler Way in Dallas after reports that someone may be trapped inside. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.
Captain Steve Mapes said crews made an immediate entry and located two people inside. “The gentleman we believe in his 70s was confined to a wheelchair. They located him, extracted him from the house, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead on the scene,” Mapes said.
A woman was also rescued from the home and taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to assist Paulding County Fire with the investigation into what sparked the blaze.
