CLAYTON COUNTY, GA — Emergency crews from the Forest Park Public Works Department responded to a road collapse in the metro Atlanta area on Monday morning that led to its temporary closure.
The collapsed road located at Longleaf Drive and Pine Creek Road was caused due to a water main break that crumbled and caved in the entire roadway.
“Officials from Clayton County are also onsite to address any necessary repairs,” Forest Park officials said later Monday afternoon.
The rain in the area also added to the issues, officials add.
“At the current time because of the rain, it will remain closed throughout the night. Our response team will respond tomorrow to conduct more repairs,” said Anton Matthews of the Forest Park Department of Public Works.
Motorists are highly encouraged to use caution near the area of Longleaf Drive and Pine Creek Road and follow all detour signage or traffic control measures. The road will be closed at least through Tuesday.
