Jury finds man not guilty in killing Fulton County deputy in 2022

FULTON COUNTY, GA — A jury finds a man not guilty today in the trial of a man accused of killing a Fulton County deputy in December of 2022.

Alton Oliver was accused of shooting and killing Deputy James Thomas while he was off duty and in his personal car.

Thomas had been with the sheriff’s office for less than a year and was part of the Grady detention unit.
