FULTON COUNTY, GA — We are getting a clearer picture of who is homeless in a county in the metro Atlanta area.
A new report from the “Fulton County Continuum of Care” has found that most of the homeless in Fulton County are adults. Officials say more than 18% of homeless are children under the age of 18.
More than half of them rely on homeless shelters or transitional housing, officials say.
The report found an overall decrease in homelessness in Fulton of more than 28% from last year.
Dawn Butler with the Fulton County Department of Community Development says it’s not clear what’s behind the reduction, but it could be due to bad weather when the count was done.
The report does not include homeless in the City of Atlanta.
