COBB COUNTY, GA — An Austell man is facing charges after a SWAT standoff with police. A narcotics task force was executing a search warrant at a home on Eugenia Place, near Austell Powder Springs Road.

Officers say the suspect opened fire and then barricaded himself inside the home.

No officers were hurt and the suspect later came out of the home and was taken into custody.

He’s now identified as 36-year-old Jose Azanza Cruz.

He’s charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Police say a search of the home turned up drugs, a firearm, and other evidence.

They made several other arrests in connection with the case.
