ATLANTA — The shelter-in-place order has been lifted by Clark Atlanta University after threats were made against multiple HBCUs across the nation Thursday afternoon.
Classes at Alabama State University, Hampton University, Virginia State University, Clark Atlanta University, Southern University, Spelman College and Bethune-Cookman University were disturbed due to the precautionary action.
During the shelter-in-place, school officials advised for students and staff to stay indoors and avoid the campus until the alert was cancelled.
The circumstances around the threats are unclear at this time.
Nearby Spelman College increased campus security while the alert was in place.
This is a developing story.
