COBB COUNTY, GA — Marietta police are investigating a crash that left an 18-year-old critically injured after being hit by a truck while riding a motorized scooter during rush hour.

It happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Windy Hill Road. Investigators say the teen was riding against traffic, heading southbound in the northbound lanes of Cobb Parkway, when he attempted to turn and crossed into the southbound lanes.

At that same time, 22-year-old Cain Jackson was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger through the intersection. Police say Jackson’s truck collided with the scooter.

The 18-year-old was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Jackson was not hurt.

No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation.
