MOSCOW, ID — Bryan Kohberger, the alleged suspect charged with the November 2022 slayings of four University of Idaho college students has pled guilty, sparing him from the death penalty.

The family of one of the victims, Kaylee Gonclaves, confirms the deal in a Facebook post after the news was delivered in a letter from prosecutors.

30-year-old Bryan Kohberger was a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D.in criminology at Washington State University at the time of the murders.

He is accused of killing Ethan Chapin (20), Xana Kernodle (20), Madison Mogen (21) and Kaylee Goncalves (21) at a rental home near the University of Idaho campus in Moscow, Idaho, in November 2022.

A court hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 2. Prosecutors will recommend the sentence of life without the possibility of parole.

This turn of events comes four days after Fourth District Judge Steven Hippler of Idaho made a ruling that rejected Kohberger’s request to delay the murder trial.

This is a developing story.
