February is one of the rainier months of the year for Metro Atlanta -- on average, about 4.5 inches of rain falls in a given February.

So far, February 2025 has trended drier than average with only 0.16 inches of rainfall for the first week, however this week is a much different situation!

A few rounds of heavy rain will move through Metro Atlanta this week, with the first round arriving Tuesday.

The animation below shows the Futurecast Radar for Tuesday through Thursday.

As much as 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rainfall is possible for the Metro Atlanta area through Thursday night, with the higher amounts likely falling closer to the North Georgia Mountains.

Metro Atlanta will receive a break from the rain on Thursday and Friday, but a second wave of heavy rain will impact the area on Saturday and Sunday.

As much as 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is possible through the end of Sunday, though locally higher amounts are possible.
